Book of Acts Study #6
Each week in this space there will be a brief reading from the Book of Acts and some notes as well as a question or two to consider. The Missional River Team is using this study as part of our process, and we invite the Congregation to “listen” along with us.Today we focus on Acts chapter 2, which is the story of Pentecost and the first converts to Christianity.
To read the whole of Acts 2, click http://bible.oremus.org/?ql=352546010 This would be helpful to get the context of the story.
To read only Acts 2:37-47 (the focus for this study), click http://bible.oremus.org/?ql=352546648
The closing verses of this chapter give a picture of the things the early church actually did together. They worshipped, they lived generously, and found joy in community.
Why do you imagine they did these things?
How were those things different than the world around them?
How are we as a congregation similar to the world around us?
How are we different?
What is going on in the world around us?
What can we do to be more like the early church?
At our annual meeting we will be doing a brainstorming exercise for what we want to see in our ministry and where our priorities are. Next week there will be two email blasts with preparation questions in them to consider so you are better able to be part of the exercise. They will connect to these studies.
