A Welcoming Community in Christ
Worshiping God and Serving All
That’s our mission, and it’s more than just a line we say. It’s how we try to live — by welcoming people as they are, worshiping with depth and joy, and serving our neighbors with compassion.
First Lutheran is a congregation in the midst of renewal — not a big-box church with a slick production, but a down-to-earth, Christ-centered community. We value traditional liturgical worship that connects us with ancient rhythms, but we also blend in fresh musical styles and creative expressions rooted in the gospel.
You won’t find a lot of prepackaged programs here. What you will find is a group of people learning how to love God and each other in real ways — through prayer, shared meals, conversation, care, and collaboration. We believe the church is built more on relationships than activities.
WORSHIP + COMMUNITY

OUR MINISTRY
We’re rooted in San Marcos and shaped by the needs of our community. One of our deepest connections is through Kids of the Kingdom, our Christ-centered preschool that nurtures young children in a joyful, loving environment.
We’re also committed to serving college students, supporting neighbors facing food insecurity, and walking with people through real-life challenges. First Lutheran is home to Katie’s Table, a growing ministry of hospitality and outreach that started with hot meals during the 2021 freeze and continues to meet needs across the city.
COME AS YOU ARE
You don’t have to have it all figured out to belong here. Whether you’re brand-new to church, returning after some time away, or just passing through, we’d love to meet you.
