First Lutheran announces our second art show, which will take place in September as part of the Mermaid Society SMTX SPLASH event.
Our theme will be “Dry Bones and New Flesh”. It is inspired by the Vision of Ezekiel in the Valley of the Dry Bones, but we encourage widely expansive interpretations not directly connected to the scriptural story. It is open to local artists (Hays, Caldwell, Guadalupe and Comal County) as well as members of the Gentileschi Aegis Gallery Association. 2D works is our primary format, but we hope to share some 3D works this time as well, which we have not done before. Space for those is quite limited, but we encourage submissions and will make every effort to include them.
Our call for entries is found http://flcsm.org/call-fall-2018/ or can be downloaded at Dry Bones 2018Fall.
The biblical story that inspires this theme as well as a reflection on it’s significance in the faith of Judaism and Christianity is found http://flcsm.org/ezekiel-37-valley-of-dry-bones/ .
Entry form is found at http://flcsm.org/dry-bones-entry/ and digital photos of works should be emailed to flcsmtxart@gmail.com .
We have started a frequently asked questions page about our shows, and encourage you to contact us to help us better communicate our plans and improve our work together.
