First Lutheran will be assembling “flood buckets” through Upbring (formerly Lutheran Social Services) to go to people who have been victims of Hurricane Harvey. Upbring has a long history of disaster response and these are their first-response needs. Later they have kits for helping people get settled into new housing and school. We will look to do those when the time comes. But now the need is cleanup for those whose homes are damaged.
We have an initial goal for 10 Flood Bucket Kits with a stretch goal of 15. We will love to even beat that goal, and all items collected will get used for the effort. We will be packing the kits on September 10th. You can bring them to First Lutheran at 130 W Holland St from 10 to 5 Monday-Thursday or by contacting me for other drop-off times or to arrange pickup.
