Faith Camp (Formerly Camp Hope)

For many years, FLC and First Christian along with other congregations have held a summer day camp called “Camp Hope”. This year we are using a different source for materials and cannot use the name “Camp Hope”. So we are re-launching as “Faith Camp”. We will have the same format and activity style that as in the past.

Camp runs from 9:30 to 3:30. We also have options for “before camp” and “after camp” care with our staff at an additional cost to cover paying them. (Camp times are not on the current version of the registration form but they will be updated soon)

The new material has us dig deep into one story each week. One week will focus on the Creation story from Genesis, and the next week is about Jesus’ Parable of the Sower. This will let us explore in-depth and learn the stories very well. They will understand the story from the perspectives of Self, Community, and World, which allows kids to relate to the text and build a relationship with the Bible. The focus is a call to action to serve the community by getting involved in caring for the world God gave us and for one another.

Here are two promo videos about the concepts of Renew. The base of the material is a VBS format that we will be adapting to the unique format of our camp, and adding the week on the Creation story:

Each day at Faith Camp, kids hear the entire Bible story for that week, but then focus on one section of it to discover what the passage means for them and how it relates to caring for God’s creation. Our crafts and activities will focus on nature and caring for God’s earth.
