The Missional River process centers on different ‘listenings’. One is listening to God in the Congregation, one is listening to God in Scripture, and one is listening to God in our neighbors. The team will be studying the Book of Acts as part of the listening in Scripture process. Each week in this space there will be a brief reading from the Book of Acts and some notes as well as a question or two to consider. We invite the Congregation to “listen” along with us.
Today’s reading is Acts 1:1-11 As you read, listen for something that catches your attention, perhaps a word or a phrase. You can find the text at: http://bible.oremus.org/?ql=346422029 .
This was our reading a couple weeks ago as we focused on “Witness” as part of our stewardship series. The Book of Acts is the story of the early Church as they began to live as Christians. It is a good place to focus as we look at how our Church is called to witness because that is exactly what the first Christians were working out: What does it mean to live as Christians in this world?
Some questions to reflect:
What were the disciples thinking as they watched Jesus go? What were they feeling?
What do you hear when you read “be my witnesses…”?
Each week there will be different texts and different meditations here. Join us in this process of “Listening” as we seek God’s purpose for our community.
